St. Mary’s Church, Baldock, Hertfordshire.
Starting in autumn 2010 and working through one of the harshest winters in recent years, Bakers’ skilled craftsmen completed extensive restoration work to the tower of St. Mary the Virgin Church in Baldock.
The work became necessary after Victorian repairs began to fail. Under the instruction of Barker Associates, we removed any weak or dangerous material and rebuilt the intricate details using a series of stainless steel fixings and traditional stone and lime repairs.
The work obviously impressed the ‘Ecclesiastical Architects & Surveyors Association’, as we were runner up in their ‘King of Prussia Gold Medal Award’.
Barker Associates added;
“Would you please pass on this news to all concerned as this Award recognises not only the work in preparing the specification, etc., but more importantly, the skill with which the work was executed by Adrian, Tony and his team, John and Ed, and Mo's team.”
