Peter Smyth - Managing Director
Peter has previously worked for a number of local and regional contractors where he trained as a contractor’s surveyor before moving on to project management. He obtained a BSc in Construction Management and is qualified to MCIOB. He oversees all the business interests of Bakers and a small number of subsidiary companies
Ron Lowe - Contracts Director
Ron started his career as an apprentice carpenter and joiner and worked at a number of contractors before progressing to site manager and then contracts manager. Ron joined Bakers in 2004 and brings his considerable practical experience to the board while being responsible for the majority of works to non-ecclesiastical listed buildings, often with domestic clients. Ron also has overall responsibility for the joinery operations of the company.
Mark Holland - Contracts Director
Mark started his career as a buyer with a national civil engineering contractor before moving to a regional general building contractor specialising in new build and refurbishment works. Mark joined Bakers in 2005 and is actively engaged with Gary Springett on larger projects, usually of a new build or refurbishment nature.
Gary Springett - Contracts and Health & Safety Director
Gary has worked at Bakers for 30 years and started his career at a national contractor before deciding to move to Bakers to become more involved in the running of the Company, and to pursue his interest in historic buildings. Gary is a Chartered Builder, and with Mark Holland, is responsible for larger contracts, often with a historical aspect to them.
Simon Wood - Contracts Director
Simon started his career at Strutt & Parker where he qualified as a Chartered Surveyor before moving soon afterwards to Bakers to concentrate on his great interest in historic buildings. He has worked at Bakers since 1992 and is responsible for the specialist department within Bakers, which carries out repairs, restoration and conservation works to churches, as well as castles and other ancient buildings throughout Essex, London, Suffolk, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Kent and some parts of Norfolk. He is a keen birder and all round naturalist and author of The Birds of Essex.
Matthew Robertson - Financial Controller
Matthew has worked and carried out his training at a number of businesses within the industry. He worked for a vehicle and plant security company before moving to Bakers. He is ACCA qualified.
