Only builders and specialists who can comply with the FMB entry criteria are accepted as members. The Federation logo on builders’ vehicles and stationery is widely accepted as the hallmark of a builder who takes pride in the quality of their work, and who matches it with an equally well-run business.

 

In addition, the FMB Code of Practice means that you can expect professional and ethical working procedures and practices from the FMB builder you have selected.

CHAS is established as the market leader for health and safety pre-qualification in the UK. It is a non-commercial scheme available to suppliers (those who provide goods and services) and to organisations (buyers) looking for suitably competent suppliers.

SAFEcontractor is the fastest growing health and safety accreditation scheme in the UK, with more than 140 major clients and almost 18,000 contractor members.


Registered members with the SAFEcontractor scheme include clients and contractors from a wide range of professional disciplines working within a number of industry sectors.

NHBC, the National House-Building Council, is the standard setting body and leading warranty and insurance provider for new and newly converted homes in the UK.


Started in 1936 as the National House-Builders Registration Council, NHBC has worked consistently to raise the construction standards of new homes and provide protection for new homebuyers.

ECTA are the first stop for members across Essex as a resource for advice, quality training, updates on legislation, knowledge of best practice, signposting, networking and as a forum for discussion. By achieving this, they are an ambassador for promoting a fully skilled and safe construction industry.

At the heart of what Constructionline do is their national online database, the UK's largest register for pre-qualified contractors and consultants. In terms of efficiency, time and cost saving and best practice, Constructionline is proven to deliver for public and private sector organisations alike. Their service is recommended by the OGC Common Minimum Standards and The Local Government Task Force.

Construction Skills are the Sector Skills Council and Industry Training Board for the construction industry, working to deliver a safe, professional and fully qualified UK construction workforce, they work with companies to help them improve skills to increase their competitive edge. These are difficult times for the industry. They are working with employers to provide support and to help them to train through the recession so that they are prepared for the upturn when it happens.

The IHBC is the professional body for building conservation practitioners and historic environment experts working in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, with connections to the Republic of Ireland. The Institute exists to establish, develop and maintain the highest standards of conservation practice, to support the effective protection and enhancement of the historic environment, and to promote heritage-led regeneration and access to the historic environment for all.

The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings was founded by William Morris in 1877 to counteract the highly destructive 'restoration' of medieval buildings being practised by many Victorian architects. Today it is the largest, oldest and most technically expert national pressure group fighting to save old buildings from decay, demolition and damage.

We also sponsor The Wildlife Trusts.

There are 47 local Wildlife Trusts across the whole of the UK, the Isle of Man and Alderney.  WT are working for an environment rich in wildlife for everyone.
